The Measure of a Thirsty™Towel… What does GSM mean?

GSM stands for grams per square meter, and it’s a standard measure of the weight and density of fabrics, including towels. Essentially, it indicates how thick or thin our towels and bathrobes are, which impacts their softness, absorbency, and drying time. Towels with a higher GSM are generally thicker, more absorbent, and more luxurious, while those with a lower GSM tend to be lighter and faster drying.

GSM Ranges for Towels:

1. 300-400 GSM: Lightweight towels that are thin and quick-drying. Often used as kitchen towels, beach towels, or gym towels where fast drying is beneficial.
2. 400-600 GSM: Medium-weight towels that offer a balance between absorbency and drying time. Suitable for everyday use.
3. 600-900 GSM: Heavier, thicker, and highly absorbent towels, often found in luxury towels. They provide a plush feel but may take longer to dry.

Cool Fact- How GSM is Measured: To measure GSM, a fabric sample is cut into a square meter (or smaller size for easier calculation), weighed on a scale, and the weight is then converted to grams per square meter.

When we describe our robe weight in ounces, for instance, our Presidential 26oz bathrobe, this means that the robe is 26oz per sq. yard.
